Raised between Singapore and Shanghai, trained in New York, I’ve always lived between worlds—East and West, tradition and technology. That in-between space shaped my outlook: I wasn’t looking to fit in—I needed to create a voice of my own.
I studied Scenery and Gardens at Tongji University, then earned my Master’s in Architecture at Pratt Institute. Years as a licensed architect taught me precision and purpose, but it’s in craftsmanship that I found my most grounded, honest expression.
The idea for my studio began when I discovered a red house in North Seattle with interiors handcrafted in the 60s by a woodworker and a painter. It was filled with the unmistakable imprint of love in every detail: hand-carved knobs, mosaic panels, hidden compartments. We knew right away this would be our home. When I met Jennifer, the original woodworker, I knew: I will become a female woodworker.
That’s how OODSHOP got its name. It is intentionally open-ended—just like my approach to design: curious, playful, and always evolving.
Let’s create something together.
